Tomintoul is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky produced near the village of Tomintoul, in the Cairngorms National Park. Founded in the 1960s and named after one of the highest villages in the Highlands, the distillery sits in a remote upland setting that has become central to the whisky's identity.

Now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers, Tomintoul draws its water from the Ballantruan spring and is known for a gentle, approachable house style. The spirit is typically smooth and mellow, with notes of honeyed malt, soft fruit, vanilla, citrus and light spice, placing it firmly within the elegant, easy-drinking side of Speyside whisky.

The range includes age-stated expressions such as 10, 12, 14, 16, 21 and older releases, alongside cask-finished bottlings and peated variants including Peaty Tang and Old Ballantruan. This gives the brand more breadth than its "gentle dram" reputation might initially suggest, moving from delicate everyday malt into richer sherry, port and smoky styles.

Tomintoul is a welcoming whisky with a clear sense of place: polished, softly fruited and unshowy, but supported by enough range and cask variety to interest drinkers who want to explore Speyside without straying into heavier or more assertive territory.
