Laphroaig's first collaboration with ambassador and actor Willem Dafoe is a genuinely intriguing release. Matured for 14 years and finished in oloroso sherry casks, this limited edition is bottled at 53.7% ABV. The signature Laphroaig peat and iodine are immediately recognisable on the nose, while the oloroso finish brings dried fruit richness and a deep, warming sweetness to the palate. The result is a layered dram that balances Islay's rugged coastal character with the complexity of sherry cask maturation. In film, "no notes" describes a performance so complete it requires no direction. This whisky was personally selected by Willem Dafoe alongside Laphroaig Senior Whisky Blender Sarah Dowling — not through analysis, but purely on instinct. Dafoe became a Friend of Laphroaig in September 2025, and this limited edition is the outcome.
