I picked up a 1L bottle of this at _Ben Gurion_ airport in March of 2015. At $110 US it was extravagant (but it’s $175.50 CAD for 750 cc in Ontario at the time of writing 2.5 years later) but it was something I was keen to try. As with many of my “to try” whiskies of which I have only one bottle, it was quite a while before I was able to open...

Talisker Select Reserve

So back in May, the first four Game of Thrones malts showed up at the LCBO (Cardhu, Lagavulin, Dalwhinnie and Glendullan) in fair enough quantities that I was able to pick up two of each without too much effort. For the remaining four malts, we waited...and waited...and waited... Now maybe I just got lazy, but they seemed to have vanished before...

Talisker 10 Year Old

Nose: Pepper and licorice saltwater taffy from the shore. Then, soft cheese, ripe. Stomach acid. Faintly unpleasant. Palate: Hot - rises up the back of your throat - but calms down fast. Amaretto cookie, Necco wafers. Bold. Finish: Distinctly medicinal, with a bit of slight honey. Unique, maybe best part of this dram.

At Gourmet Experience Callao, date is Jan 12, 2015. A lemon yellow pour with a golden cast. Aroma is rather low: some sweet scents (the likes of cinnamon and caramel) on the fore, a hint of grapefruit and cedarwood on the back. Period. Way too light despite the nice ABV.
