Deanston is a Highland single malt distillery in Doune, Perthshire, housed in a former cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith. Whisky production began in the 1960s, making Deanston a relatively modern distillery by Scotch standards, although the mill buildings themselves give the site a much deeper industrial history.
The distillery is part of CVH Spirits, alongside Bunnahabhain and Tobermory. Deanston's setting is central to its identity: the River Teith provides both water for production and power through the distillery's hydro-electric system. The core range includes expressions such as the 12 Year Old and 18 Year Old, alongside Virgin Oak, cask finishes, limited releases and older bottlings.
Deanston is generally known for a full, waxy and honeyed Highland style, with notes of malt, vanilla, orchard fruit, citrus, toffee and gentle spice. Many releases are bottled without chill filtration and at natural colour, reinforcing the distillery's slightly craft-led, traditional character despite its relatively recent whisky-making history.
