Benriach is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from near Elgin, founded in 1898 by John Duff during the late Victorian whisky boom. Its early years were disrupted by the Pattison Crash, and the distillery spent long periods silent before returning to more sustained production in the second half of the twentieth century.

Now owned by Brown-Forman, Benriach has become known for a particularly wide-ranging approach to Speyside whisky. The distillery works across unpeated, peated and occasionally triple-distilled spirit styles, supported by an unusually broad cask programme that includes bourbon, sherry, port, rum, Madeira, Marsala and virgin oak influences.

The core range includes expressions such as The Original Ten, The Twelve, The Smoky Ten, The Smoky Twelve and older age-stated releases, each showing a different side of the distillery's character. Benriach's flavour profile can move from orchard fruit, honey, malt and citrus through to richer spice, dried fruit and smoke, depending on the style and maturation.

What makes Benriach distinctive is its combination of Speyside elegance and deliberate variety. It offers the bright fruit and balance associated with the region, but with enough peat, cask experimentation and textural depth to feel more exploratory than conventional.
