Then the fruits tone down and this transforms to the main theme: a Waldorf salad with all its elements (weakly salty mayo, red grape, red apple, celery, walnut). I have mixed feelings about this whisky. On the one side it's a real easy dram to drink, going down with remarkable smoothness and making you feel good about it. It carries that distinctive Speyside flavour which goes well for some speysides and wrong for others, but as usual Macallan pulls it off flawlessly. But at the same time it lacks oomph....
