Macallan Whisky Maker's Edition

Nose: Sweet on the nose, with the ‘trademark’ Macallan dried fruit, zest and chocolate. The chocolate elemnts here are quite distinct, and it’s a lovely combination. Very surprising stuff. Palate: Very nice, full , some spice, and a lot of the chocolate and fruit going on,some zest also. Orange Milk chocolate combination, which i like so much....

This bottling from Gordon & Macphail does not name a distillery, but rumour has it this is a Macallan as well. Hence I taste it in this little line-up. Macallan Travel Series 1950s

I have mixed feelings about this whisky. On the one side it's a real easy dram to drink, going down with remarkable smoothness and making you feel good about it. It carries that distinctive Speyside flavour which goes well for some speysides and wrong for others, but as usual Macallan pulls it off flawlessly. But at the same time it lacks oomph....
