Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak

On the nose, sherry and caramel predominate. Doesn't seem so complex but it's nice. Not in a hurry to get past this to the drink. On the tongue, caramel again and the oak comes through, not as sweet as the nose suggests but very smooth. Finish doesn't linger long. There's a nice burn. Very approachable. Interestingly the bottle is about 2/3 empty...

A sample of this NAS cask strength Macallan (at 60.1% ABV) was part of a very generous birthday gift from @paddockjudge. The colour is one of the deepest and reddest I have ever seen in a whisky - almost like cola. On the nose we have black cherries, charred oak, Angostura bitters, buttermilk and dark cocoa.
