Portobello Road Gin

Portobello Road Gin is a London gin brand born above the Portobello Star in Notting Hill, where The Ginstitute was created as a small museum and educational space devoted to gin. Launched in 2011 by a team with deep roots in bars and drinks culture, it helped capture the renewed interest in London gin at a time when the category was moving rapidly beyond its old-fashioned image.

The flagship Portobello Road No. 171 London Dry Gin takes its name from the brand's original Portobello Road address. It was developed with the help of respected London distiller Charles Maxwell and is distilled to the brand's recipe at Thames Distillers, while Portobello Road Distillery remains closely associated with The Ginstitute, visitor experiences and the brand's Notting Hill identity.

The core gin is a classic London Dry in structure, bottled at 42% ABV and built around juniper, citrus, coriander and warm spice. The wider range includes expressions such as Navy Strength, Sloe Gin, Savoury Gin and other limited or flavoured releases, giving the brand room to move from traditional gin and tonic serves into Martinis, Negronis and more contemporary cocktails.

Portobello Road Gin feels distinctly London in both flavour and attitude: knowledgeable without being stiff, rooted in gin history without being defined by it.
