Maxime Trijol is a family-owned Cognac house based at Saint-Martial-sur-Né, in the heart of the Charente. The family's involvement in Cognac dates back to the nineteenth century, with the house developing from vine growing and distillation into a respected producer known for both classic blends and cru-focused releases.
Unlike many houses that rely heavily on bought-in eaux-de-vie, Maxime Trijol distils the Cognac it bottles, using a substantial set of traditional Charentais pot stills. The family works with vineyards in Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, and the range includes both broader regional blends and expressions made exclusively from Grande Champagne, the premier cru of Cognac.
The style is elegant, fruit-led and traditionally structured, with younger bottlings showing fresh grape, orchard fruit, vanilla, citrus and light spice. Older VSOP, XO, Extra and vintage releases develop richer notes of dried apricot, orange peel, rancio, tobacco, leather, polished oak and warm baking spice, while often retaining the floral lift associated with fine Champagne Cognac.
Maxime Trijol is a strong choice for those who enjoy Cognac with family provenance and a clear production identity. It offers the polish expected of the category, but with enough distilling credibility, cru specificity and mature depth to feel more personal than many larger house styles.
