Cameronbridge is a Lowland grain whisky distillery at Cameron Bridge in Fife, founded in 1824 by John Haig. It is one of Scotland's most historically important grain distilleries, closely linked to the early development of continuous distillation and to the Haig family's role in shaping blended Scotch whisky.
Today Cameronbridge is owned by Diageo and remains a major production site, producing grain whisky for blends as well as neutral grain spirit for other drinks within the wider group. It is widely regarded as one of Scotland's largest grain distilleries, operating on a scale far removed from the small pot-still image often associated with single malt whisky.
Cameronbridge whisky is usually encountered either as a component in blends or through single grain bottlings, including Cameron Brig and independent releases. Mature examples show the classic grain whisky profile of vanilla, coconut, toffee, cereal sweetness, light citrus and soft spice, with older casks developing caramel, polished oak, dried fruit and a gentle waxy depth.
Cameronbridge is central to the story of Scotch whisky beyond single malt. Its importance lies in scale, consistency and technical innovation, but well-aged bottlings also demonstrate how graceful and rewarding single grain whisky can be when given time in cask.
