Boann is a family-owned Irish whiskey distillery in the Boyne Valley, County Meath. Founded by the Cooney family, whose wider drinks industry experience spans several decades, it forms part of Ireland's modern distilling revival while drawing heavily on older Irish whiskey traditions.

The distillery is especially focused on single pot still whiskey, using mash bills that include malted and unmalted barley alongside grains such as oats, wheat and rye. Its own Boann single pot still releases began appearing in the mid-2020s, with expressions shaped by casks such as Marsala, Madeira, Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso, as well as newer additions including Boann Legacy. The family also produces The Whistler range, which has helped build wider recognition for the distillery.

Boann's style is generous and cask-conscious, with the pot still spirit bringing texture, spice and cereal depth beneath layers of fruit and sweetness. Depending on the release, drinkers can expect notes of orchard fruit, honey, baking spice, citrus peel, dried fruit, chocolate, nuts and polished oak, with richer casks adding more weight and warmth.

Boann feels very much like a contemporary Irish whiskey producer with one foot in the past. Its interest in historic mash bills, family ownership and varied cask maturation gives it a clear identity within the newer wave of Irish distilleries: traditional in inspiration, but confident and modern in execution.
